Welcome Members and Friends

Welcome! We're a group of photography enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. We use all manner of cameras, from point and shoots, to digital SLRs, to large format cameras. We shoot both digital and film. Our skill levels range from beginner to experienced, and everything in between. So, everyone is welcome.

The club works as follows - we meet the third Monday of every month for a digital and slide competition, for which we bring in an outside professional to critique and judge our photos. We also have a yearly photo essay contest in April, and an end-of-season judging in May where the winners throughout the year are critiqued for the yearly best photo honors. We're also starting to organize events like photo walks and Photoshop workshops.

We present our winning pictures from our contests on this site. Feel free to browse around and see the variety of work we do.

So, why should you join? Well, we find that doing is a good way of improving. The monthly contests let us exercise our creative muscles. Participating in the contests forces you to get out there and take some pictures. There's also the camaraderie, and if you've got questions there's usually someone in the club that can answer them.

Sound interesting? Then feel free to drop by our meeting to get acquainted. Visitors are always welcome.

Think you might like to join? The first step is to register to use the site. That allows you to participate (upload images and vote) in the online competition, with no further obligation. If you have questions you'll also be able to post them in the online forum. When you're ready to join, download the membership form in the 'Membership and Downloads' section or just come to a meeting to check us out.

David Silber,
President

Announcement: Photowalk - June 28, 2008
News The first of our photowalks was attended by 6 people, who met at dawn in Milbrook Marsh. The light was soft and there was a mist that varied from light to quite heavy in places, providing an interesting backdrop or mood enhancer for images of the boardwalks, birds, trees, bushes, water and marsh plants.

Some images from the photowalk have been (with more to come) added to the Milbrook Marsh album in the "Others" section of the photo galleries.

Announcement: Changes in the Meeting Format
Announcement Learning More

Based on our recent survey, unanimity was strongest on the subject of members wanting to learn more about photography techniques, methods, and principles. Therefore, beginning in January 2008, we will start each meeting with one of the following:
  • a judge's program,
  • a 3 - 7 minute photo critique, or
  • a 12 - 25 minute Photoshop tutorial.

Tips: View a larger image
Tips Bill writes, "When viewing images in the Photo Galleries, if you click once on an image in the gallery, you are shown a larger version of the picture by itself. But did you know that once that larger version displays, if you click it again, you will be shown an even bigger version?

This is a great feature for examining the details of an image."
